The young are born between the end of April and beginning of May. The mating period of blue and silver foxes, the two common fox species, is a little more spread out, being from January to April. The gestation period for foxes lasts for 7 weeks.
After weaning, new breeding stock is selected before the month of November. Those animals that will not be kept for breeding will be left for harvesting during November/December. In order to prevent disease, the animals are vaccinated premises are cleaned and disinfected thoroughly, after which the cycle starts once again with the mating period.
